My Saturday’s inspiration

Saturday, September 27th, 2008

This Saturday morning in a neighborhood called Östermalm in Stockholm, as I was walking and talking on the phone, I suddenly heard a warm and inviting voice. A woman’s friendly face and a couple of bruschettas in a basket appeared in front of me. I don’t usually take freebies. But before I could think, my hand had reached out and a bruschetta had ended in my mouth. It was delicious. I realized a brand new cafe was opened in a tiny space which had been something else. I recognized that in front of me is another woman entrepreneur trying to kick off a new business. I told myself I got to go in and have a cup of coffee just to show support (I have had so much support from others in my entrepreneur journey so far).

In-between her dashing out of the door to catch more pass-bys, I chatted with the woman, her name is Jennifer. It turned out Jennifer opened this very pleasant cafe (called California Deli) just over a week ago. She decided to go back to work now that her daughter is big enough. As you may have already guessed from the name, Jennifer is originally from Los-Angeles, California.

I watched her chatting with customers and dashing out to offer her delicious bruschettas. I could see her determination to make it work, and I think she knows how.

I was very much inspired by this surprising encounter and I’ll definitely go back again for more coffee and her delicious food.

We are selling via Apple premium resellers

Sunday, September 14th, 2008

I love the few Apple products that I own, they are carefully designed and very stylish. They are very easy to use. I enjoy the entire experience surrounding them! Many Apple premium reseller stores seem to live up to this ideal image, in particular the MacForum store in Gothenburg, Sweden. The display and decor are very modern and stylish. I was welcomed by a very pleasant woman sale person when I first visited their main store. The decision makers there albeit men resonated well with LA YIN spirits, they wanted very much to offer products that are genuinely designed for women.

Our product will be available at MacForum store in Gothenburg from sometime this week.

My dear Gothenburg panel members were wondering when I’d go and have a launch party there. It might be soon!! I’ll keep everyone posted.

No pink phones - a new twist on technology for women

Sunday, September 14th, 2008

I’m very pleased to see other link-minded women who left comments at Holly’s blog post.

I had much inspiration from Holly’s earlier blogs where she shared her insights on what we women want from the technology and how we react to the current tech consumer scene.

It’s simply great with the internet and etc, we’ve got a border-less one world, just like what Friedman discussed in his book ‘The World if Flat’. One can connect with people in every corner of the world. (This fits perfect with my citizen of the world identify!!)

Now that we’ve got such a nice world stage set up for us, why don’t we get the global No Pink phone movement going!

We are selling at the store of the National Museum at Stockholm

Thursday, September 4th, 2008

I love visiting museums’ stores wherever I travel. The store at Stockholm’s national museum is one of my favorite stores to buy gifts for friends and families. It has a wide selection of finely designed objects in Scandinavian style. It is a highly sophisticated and super cool store! I’m very happy our products are selling via the store.
Go and check out the store if you come to town.

LA YIN movement i.e. No More Pink Phone movement

Monday, September 1st, 2008

Don’t get me wrong, I love pink: my iPOD is pink; I had a pink thin Swatch until it found its way to the washing machine. The thing that I’m (and many among us) disenchanted is that many simply paint their tech products in pink in order to attract us women buyers.

I want to produce and set examples of high tech experiences that are of true female experiences. I want to see one day all the high tech products that are for women speak to us in our language and come across as genuinely designed for us. I believe it takes No More Pink Phone movement to speed it up and make it happen.
